Horizon is working on a project to restore native plants and biodiversity on our grounds. Horizon is seeking those passionate about improving our environment.

Nature Walking Tours

Horizon invites you to take a stroll along our paved lake path to view the property God has entrusted to us.

After the 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. services on Sundays, June 1st, July 13th, August 10th, September 14th, October 12th, and November 9th, meet your knowledgeable guide 5 minutes after each service ends in the Courtyard (located in the front of the building through the gates near the fountain). From the paved path you’ll view and learn about the native plantings and habitats our Eco Team Members have preserved and created to protect the land and wildlife within our boundaries. Join us to increase your knowledge about plants and animals on the property and gain inspiration to use at your own home.

Join us on the June 1st tour to see the starting point of the new walking trails in Horizon’s prairie!

Walking tours will take place rain or shine!

Everyone is invited! This is a great educational and fun opportunity for the whole family! Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. To register for a walking tour, visit www.horizoncc.com/tours.

Ecological Service Projects are planned on the second Saturday of each month at Horizon.  On  June 14th, July 12th, August 9th and September 13th, the project is planned from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.  On October 11th and November 8th, the project is planned from 10 a.m. - Noon.

The focus changes based on the weather, but outdoor activities include cutting invasive plants, piling or removing brush, planting native beds and more. Indoor activities will include a variety of projects designed to prepare for the next season.

Everyone is welcome to join in these service dates, so bring the whole family! Children under 12 who would like to participate in a service project should be accompanied by a parent.
