A Night with Saddam Hussein

Dr. Mark Green joins Horizon on July 18-19 with a message entitled “A Night with Saddam.”

He was one of the greatest tyrants of our age, a man who prompted two international wars and fear of terrorism around the globe. On the night he was captured, immediately after he was pulled from a hole in the ground near the Iraqi town of Adwar, Dr. Mark Green was there. He spoke with Saddam, tended him medically and learned what few have had opportunity to know.  Dr. Green's reflections in his book, A Night with Saddam, on the dictator of Iraq, the life of a military doctor and war as a whole are invaluable. Dr. Green will be joining Horizon Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th to discuss his incredible story first hand at all 4 services. (Saturday’s service will include worship music and Baptism Celebration, along with Dr. Green’s presentation.)

About Mark Green:

After graduating from West Point with a degree in business, Mark Green served as an infantry officer, eventually commanding a rifle company in the famed 82nd Airborne Division.  While in command, his father's life was saved by a surgeon, profoundly impacting him and leading him to seek a degree in medicine.  Following his residency in emergency medicine Dr. Green was assigned as the flight surgeon for the 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne).  There Mark served alongside some of the nation's most elite warriors on two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom and one in Operation Enduring Freedom.  He participated in planning and providing medical coverage for some of OIF and OEF's most covert operations.  He is a recipient of the Bronze Star, The Air Medal with "V" device for Valor, The Air Medal, and the Combat Medical Badge.
